Ochi Seafood Festival attracts strong sponsorship - No-Maddz, Leroy Sibbles, Noddy Virtue for 9th staging
Nesta Promotions has taken over the staging of the Ocho Rios Seafood Festival, as the event returns to the Turtle River Park on Sunday, August 2.
The event, now in its ninth year, has got huge corporate support this year, with sponsorship coming from Red Stripe. Other sponsors include Dolphin Cove, Couples Resorts, Gas Pro, Jamaica Broilers and Mystic Mountain.
The festival has also attracted support from the Jamaica Tourist Board, the Ocho Rios Resort Board, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Jamaica Business Development Corporation and the Discovery Bay Marine Lab.
"The Ocho Rios Seafood Festival is arguably one of the biggest culinary shows in Jamaica today, and having a corporate entity the size of Red Stripe on board is not only a major boost, but can be viewed in the context that we are ready to take this event to another level," argues promoter Michael Ennis from Nesta Promotions.
He continues: "We are expecting it to continue to grow from strength to strength and should again see a great turnout of local and overseas visitors."
Over the years, the Ocho Rios Seafood Festival has proven to be a gourmet's delight, offering a wide range of seafoods prepared in the most delectable manner. This year, the food stalls are expected to be just as exciting, with lovers of seafood able to indulge in dishes that may include fish, lobster, shrimp, conch, cockle, scallop, oyster, clam, crab and crayfish.
"This will be a culinary masterpiece as well as fun for the entire family," Ennis promises.
Complementing the wide assortment of seafood dishes will be an entertainment package featuring the talented and exciting band No-Maddz, as well as singers Leroy Sibbles, Noddy Virtue and others.
No-Maddz is known for songs such as Romance, Shotta and the rather interesting Rise Above Profanity with the refrain poo puku poo.
Sibbles is known and well loved both as a member of The Heptones and as a solo artiste. Also a bassist extraordinaire, his wide repertoire includes Fatty Fatty, Sea of Love, Party Time and I Shall Be Released.
Virtue got his break appearing on Digicel Rising Stars and, while not much has been heard of him lately, his live performance has always been something to look forward to. Bed of Roses, Rebel in Me and Broken Arrow are some of his more popular live performance tracks.
The MC will be Suzie Q.
Children under 12 years old, accompanied by an adult, will be admitted free of cost. The gates to the 2015 Ocho Rios Seafood Festival open 10 a.m.
