Bob Marley, Wailers atop Billboard album chart
Legendary reggae band Bob Marley and The Wailers have found themselves atop another musical chart as their album, Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and The Wailers, currently sits at No. 1 on the Billboard catalogue album chart.
The album beat out artistes like Amy Winehouse, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran.
Albums on the catalogue chart are those that have been released for over 18 months and have fallen outside of the Hot 100 bracket on the Billboard 200 chart. These projects may or may not be comprised of re-released material and their rankings on the catalogue chart are solely based on sales.
The album has been on the Billboard chart for a record 1,172 weeks - more than any other album on the list, which amounts to 25.
Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and The Wailers, was released in 1984 by Island Records and is the best-selling reggae album of all time, with over 15 million copies sold in the United States and an estimated 25 million copies sold globally.
Bob Marley and the Wailers are also No. 7 on the Billboard reggae chart with their effort called Easy Skanking in Boston '78 - Bob Marley and the Wailers. Currently sitting at No. 1 on that chart is Jah Cure's recent effort, The Cure. However, Bob Marley and The Wailer's Easy Skanking in Boston '78, already peaked at No. 1 and is enjoying its 22nd consecutive week as a top-10 entry.
Bob Marley's son, Ky-Mani Marley currently holds the No. 3 spot with his new album, Maestro.
