Lots of entertainment for Heroes' Weekend in Ochi

As is customary, Ocho Rios will come alive during Heroes' Weekend with a range of activities and with something for everyone.

With a plethora of events set for the weekend, and stretching beyond that, today we take a sneak preview of some of the exciting events that are planned.

 

Vintage Friday - A Smirnoff Event

 

Mongoose Jamaica Restaurant and Lounge, located at 52 Main Street in Ocho Rios (across from Moon Palace Jamaica Grande) presents Vintage Friday, a Smirnoff, endorsed event, on Friday, October 16.

The event will feature music from the 70s up, with dress code being 70s fashion.

The best-dressed patron will get a prize of a dinner for two at the restaurant, and second place will win a day at the spa.

Music will be provided by Bob Clarke from Irie FM and Bird Eye from Jamintel sound system.

"We will have lots of what I call feel-good music, with lots of good food and good vibes," said proprietor, Lesbert Thomas.

 

Ocho Rios Seafood Festival and Family Fun Day

 

Postponed in August, the 2015 edition of the Ocho Rios Seafood Festival will definitely take place this time around, according to the promoters, Nesta Promotions.

It is set for Saturday, October 17 at Turtle River Park in Ocho Rios, with seafood aplenty and a range of activities. The entertainment package includes reggae legend Leroy Sibbles, Kevin Downswell, Devin di Dakta, Lava Vein, Karry-Ann Scorpian, and others. Gates open at 10 a.m.

 

Royalty and Bad Boyz in Review at Shades

 

On Saturday, October 17, Shades Night Club will present a double event, Royalty, featuring seven queens at the main club, and Bad Boyz in Review - the Birth of Seduction, a ladies only party, at the sports bar.

Royalty, which is basically a show highlighting the queens at Shades, will feature two international dancehall queens and five Miss Shades Exotic Queens.

In another section of the building, at the sports bar, will be Bad Boyz in Review -the Birth of Seduction, offering a collection of muscular macho men providing adult entertainment for ladies only.

 

Smirnoff Tantrum

 

One of Ocho Rios' most popular parties, Smirnoff Tantrum (Smirnoff Playground), returns also on Saturday, October 17, at the Ocean Village car park in Ocho Rios.

The Streets Entertainment, all-inclusive event, will feature music by ZJ Liquid, Bosey Killa and ZJ Rush.

 

Mr Bashy Big Yard

 

For the lovers of theatre, Passa Passa Production will present the roots play, Mr Bashy Big Yard, at Ocho Rios high school on Heroes Day, Monday, October 19. The play stars Maxwell 'Bashy' Grant, Lemon, Sashy Dell, Tanice, Cavin and Diggle. Show time is 7:30 p.m., and tickets are available at Great House Pharmacy and at the gate.

Lots of other events are taking place between now and month end in and around Ocho Rios. Among them are Igloo, Tipsy, Dancehall Vybz, Fun Fest, Mawch Out, Bubbles and Marco Polo.
