Kabaka Pyramid looking to solidify 2015 gains

Kabaka Pyramid is looking forward to a strong 2016, building on the excellent 2015 he has had.

The lyricist had standout performances at staple local festivals such as Rebel Salute and Reggae Sumfest, consolidating his position following an impressive Sting showing the previous year.

Internationally, Kabaka completed a number of successful tours with his band, The Bebble Rockers. Performing at the South by South West Music Festival in Austin, Texas, was a groundbreaker for him, as he represented reggae music on one of the largest industry platforms on the globe. Following SxSW, the Young Lions tour took Kabaka Pyramid across the United states on a 31 day, 24 show reggae experience alongside Iba Mahr.

This in addition to a number of other major appearances in Florida, Oregon, Seattle and various provinces in Canada.

The second half of the year saw Kabaka Pyramid and his Bebble Rockers performing to over 5,000 people for the first time in Trinidad and Tobago and also did a show for a full house in San Jose, Costa Rica. In Europe and UK the Well Done Tour took the music and the message across 11 countries in the region on 28 headlining dates, ending at the Electric, Brixton.

Last year Kabaka dropped a series of singles, including Phenomenon (Digital-B), Politics (Grandtheft), As the Keys Play (ZJ Chrome) and Too Long (Notis).

Standing out is Well Done, produced by Damian Marley. The video was released in September.

Among his projects for 2016 are a mixtape/EP collaboration with Walshy Fire of Major Lazer, to be released early first quarter. His debut album is also on the way. Working alongside Damian 'Jr. Gong' Marley, this year he will release a fresh full length project.

He will tour a number of territories, including Europe, United States and Costa Rica, and is also planning a special treat for local fans.

OMI, Shaggy scheduled for Moon Palace

Two of Jamaica's international entertainers are set to perform at the Moon Palace Jamaica Grande in Ocho Rios, St Ann, as the five-star all-inclusive hotel rolls out its entertainment calendar for the first and second quarters of 2016.

Confirmed performers include OMI, who skyrocketed to fame in 2015 with the global success of his chart-topping single, Cheerleader, on February 27. Also on the line-up is Grammy Award winner Orville 'Shaggy' Burrell, affectionately known as Mr Boombastic, after his successful single which topped the Billboard charts. Shaggy is set to perform at the Moon Palace on April 9.

"The Palace Resorts brand has become synonymous with world-class entertainment after hosting concerts with A-list acts such as Shakira, Usher, Ricky Martin, The Beach Boys, Michael Bolton and Toto, among others," a Moon Palace representative said.

Palace Resorts is offering guests who book a stay of five nights or more two complimentary tickets to the performances as part of the all-inclusive concept.
