The Lawrence Rowe Foundation has announced their second annual Cricket Legends Weekend with the highly anticipated exhibition cricket match to take place at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida.
Produced by the Spirit of Excellence Production Company this year, the event will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2016 and is expected to feature cricket legends like Barry Richards (South Africa), Lawrence Rowe (Jamaica), Joel Gardner (Barbados), Augustine Logie (Trinidad), Faoud Bacchus, Lance Gibbs, Ramnaresh Sarwan (Guyana), Desmond Haynes, among others who will be announced.
The exhibition cricket match will feature two games, Game 1 from 10 a.m., to 2 p.m., and Game 2 from 3 p.m., to 7 p.m. The event will also feature a kids' zone and batting cage, among other activities for the entire family.
Since 2011, the Lawrence Rowe Legendary Cricket Foundation's 'Mission of the Heart' has extended a helping hand to West Indies legends across the Caribbean, while the foundation's sister programme - 'Look Good Do Good', has sought to educate the youth and community about Jamaican culture, through the sport of cricket and creative expression. The foundation also provides tutoring for children 7-14 years old.
Founded by Lawrence and Audrey Rowe, the original vision was promoting cricket to the youngsters as well as to get the sport in schools in South Florida.
The purpose of the foundation later expanded to promoting educational enrichment, one-on-one mentoring and tutoring to facilitate academic growth and cultural creativity.
Through the Look Good Do Good tutoring programme, certified teachers assist students who are struggling with mathematics and reading.
The foundation has made its way throughout the Caribbean, North America and England in its quest to educate youths while teaching the dynamics of the sport of cricket.
