Samsung Electronics is set to release its newly redefined smartphones - the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge - in Jamaica on April 1.

The phones were officially launched at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston yesterday morning.

According to Samsung's regional marketing manager, Jennifer Donley, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge is set to offer consumers a new way of communicating.

"The phone has all of this innovation because Samsung always brings the latest and greatest. Jamaicans love the latest and greatest, and we have two great phones of different sizes - something for everyone to pick from," she said.

Samsung is known to pay keen attention to camera quality, and according to the company, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are world leaders as it relates to their ability to capture and output images with unrivalled quality.

PHONE FEATURES

The phones carry a dual-pixel camera feature, the first of its kind - delivering brighter and sharper images even when lighting conditions are not at its best. The technology found in the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, also incorporates fast wireless and cable charging capabilities, extra storage via a micro SD card slot, a powerful processor and increased battery capacity.

And for 'selfie' lovers, the new Samsung S7 and S7 Edge will enhance the experience.

Included are new selfie features like the spotlight, which can shed additional light on one's face, and there is the 'wide selfie' feature which simulates a selfie stick, allowing individuals to capture everyone in the picture instead of having to crumble together to get into the frame of the picture. There is also a 'selfie flash', allowing persons to take pictures in the dark and still get sharp, quality photos.

And for the game lovers, new features like 'game launcher' and 'vulkan API', make the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, a new staple for gamers who can now record their experiences, share their screens with other gamers and even play high-performance graphic games with lower battery consumption.

With all these new features and upgrades, there may be general concerns about the cost to secure such a marvellous device. However, Donley assures that prices will be affordable, and they are working with local partners to ensure this.
