Selena honours Christina Grimmie

Selena Gomez has paid a glowing tribute to her long-time friend, Christina Grimmie.

The 23-year-old pop star used the Miami stop of her Revival World Tour to speak of her love and affection for Christina, who was killed by a gunman following her concert performance in Orlando, Florida, on Friday.

Selena said: "When she was 14 years old, we met her and my parents and I signed her. One thing about Christina and her family is that she holds her faith so closely to her. And I think it's not about a religion and it's not about anything or good deeds. It's just that she had faith.

And I don't really understand how this really happened, but I would like to dedicate this next song to her."

Selena's stepfather, Brian Teefey, who was also Christina's manager, earlier spoke about his heartbreak on hearing the tragic news. In a statement, he told People: "Words cannot begin to describe the pain I am feeling. I learnt this business through the eyes of a father, and Christina was like a second daughter to me."

Christina's killer has been named as Kevin James Loibl, 27, from St Petersburg, Florida, who police believe travelled to the concert with the intention of killing the singer. Orlando Police Chief John Mina said it was likely that the man was a deranged fan and that Christina did not know him.

Anxiety axes Zayn Malik from concert

Zayn Malik didn't even make it to The Wembley Stadium before he backed out of Capital FM's Summertime Ball on Saturday.

The 23-year-old singer cancelled a scheduled performance at the annual gig in London because of ongoing anxiety issues - and it's now been reported that the former One Direction star never even managed to leave his base in the city to make his way to the iconic venue.

An insider told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "At 7.30 p.m., they were still preparing to interview him before he took to the stage. His team didn't communicate with them until very late in the game, and when people started to check if everything was OK, they refused to answer calls."

Zayn, for his part, apologised to his fans in a lengthy Instagram post in which he revealed he has been dealing with anxiety problems for some time. The event was set to mark his UK debut as a solo artiste, following his much-discussed decision to quit One Direction before the band decided to take a break.

At the end of the post, he said: "I know those who suffer anxiety will understand and I hope those who don't can empathise with my situation."

Kanye advised to 'tweet less'

The 39-year-old rapper Kanye West's last-minute gig at Webster Hall in New York was axed last week after thousands of fans flocked to the streets outside the venue, causing chaos in the East Village. Stereophonics band blamed Kanye for tweeting about it.

Speaking to Absolute Radio's Pete Donaldson backstage at the Isle of Wight Festival, frontman Kelly Jones quipped: "I think it would be impossible for him to do anything secret, wouldn't it? Maybe tweet less and then people don't know where you are."

And Kelly admitted that his band had their own trouble when they staged a secret gig recently as none of their equipment was working. He added: "I think it was even secret to us because we got there and nothing was working, but it was a good laugh. It just reminded us of playing the gigs that we always played, to be honest we always used to play pubs."

Kanye is renowned for his Twitter rants, where he has lashed out at stars including Wiz Khalifa, Amber Rose and Taylor Swift.

Johnny Depp retreats to Bahamas

Johnny Depp has escaped the ongoing drama surrounding his divorce by reportedly flying to his private island in The Bahamas.

The 53-year-old actor, who is in the midst of a divorce from his estranged wife Amber Heard, recently toured Europe with his band, the Hollywood Vampires. Rather than return to the glare of the spotlight in the US, Johnny has instead flown off to the Caribbean. Interestingly, the island was also the destination where the Hollywood duo - who met on the set of The Rum Diaries in 2009 - tied the knot.

Amber recently filed for divorce from the Pirates of the Caribbean actor and has accused him of being physically and verbally abusive towards her during their marriage.
