Hollywood stars join Huawei for new venture ... As the reinvention of smartphone photography is explored

Renowned actors Henry Cavill of Superman fame and Tony Award winning, Scarlett Johansson of The Avengers, have both added their energy, skills, and time to a Baillie Walsh-directed TV commercial for telecommunications giant Huawei. The project was undertaken and filmed in Shanghai and New Zealand under Walsh's RSA Films.

While both stars are used to being in the spotlight, this time it is for a different reason as they are seen testing the capabilities of Huawei's exclusive P9 camera by capturing, sharing and competing to get the best shot.

Blending superior hardware and software with Leica dual lenses, the Huawei P9 enables you to capture high-quality pictures without compromising on the handset's sleek and compact style, so it was not hard for either superstar to capture great shots. The TV commercial shows the interesting intersection of parallels, Henry and Scarlett, Shanghai and Hollywood, Leica and Huawei, black and white and colour images.

Cavill was quite excited to be part of the project.

"I feel a great passion for technology and the great possibilities created by the P9's dual camera. I'm very impressed by the collaboration between Leica and Huawei in the creation of a truly high-performance smartphone camera. And all of this showcased in a fantastic design", Cavill said.

Sending a message from the set of her latest movie, Scarlett Johansson said: "I can easily relate to the art of photography. It was very exciting seeing Huawei partnering with such an iconic camera brand as Leica to create this incredible device. It was a pleasure to work with Huawei in this project because I love the way it invites us to use our curiosity and share new perspectives".

Huawei also partnered with professional photographers for the P9 including renowned photographer Mario Testino who was in charge of shooting the visuals for the campaign.

Other recognised creators like Mary McCartney, David Guttenfelder from National Geographic, Reuben Krabbe, Conde Nast Traveler magazine and the well-known photography community Eye Em, were also involved in the project.

For this, each photographer shot a collection of images with the P9, inspired by the device, and that showcased the state-of- the-art capabilities of this smartphone.

The resulting images come to life on the Full HD 5.2 inch display, coupled with an elegant, slim and detailed oriented design with state-of-the-art technology capable of changing the way we see the world through a smartphone camera.

The Huawei P9 is the device destined to reinvent smartphone photography resulting from the collaboration between Huawei and the global photography icon Leica, introducing, for the first time, a dual lens camera in a smartphone, achieving a new standard in smartphone camera technology.

The P9 builds on Huawei's legacy of creating premium mobile devices that set the highest elegance and performance standards in the industry. The Huawei P9 is currently available in Jamaica.
