Sagicor recently lit up the Wolmer's Boys' School auditorium stage for its second Performing with the Stars & Lip-Sync Competition.

It was a packed venue as scores of Sagicor employees, family members and friends flocked the auditorium for the well anticipated event. Backed by a stellar line-up of popular acts like Tifa, Bugle, Chi Ching Ching, Rondell Positive and a few others, the aim of the event was to allow team members to showcase their talents in the performing arts.

The Performing with the Stars segment was the piece de resistance of the nearly three-hour event. Each participating Sagicor team member had up to three minutes to showcase their talent which included singing, deejay, drama, comedy, poetry and instrumental. These performers were paired with a notable star to complement their performance.

The other elements of the three-part event consisted of the lip-sync competition, where each performer was given up to two minutes to present their performance. This segment proved to the be most talked about as the performers had to replicate/mimic the act of a chosen performer which oftentimes made for interspersed comedic relief.

The new kid on the block added to this year's suite of competitions for the first time is the 'To Di Beat' dance competition. This specific event was "designed to get team members to showcase their talent in the arts and to provide them with the opportunity to develop themselves while encouraging interaction among team members at all levels", explained Karl Williams, vice-president, group human resources. Each team performed for four minutes to a dance style of their choice and a dance style that was selected as a 'blind pick'. At the end of the night, Sagicor team members CCC Hot Steppaz, who were also the crowd favourites, walked away with the winning title and a $50,000 cash prize.

S.T.A.R.S. Week is the acronym for Showcasing Talent And Recognising Staff, a Sagicor team recognition tradition that began in December 1984 to celebrate team spirit and a strong social relationship.
