After weeks of momentum-building events, soca junkies will take today to the streets of Kingston and St Andrew in their  bright-feathered costumes or ripped t-shirts hugging the notes of the popular beats of carnival 2017.

Here are a few things you should consider to help you to have a better experience:

Sunscreen: Moisturise to ensure you do not end up scorched. In fact, get a travel size so that you can reapply after you have danced off the first coat.

Spray tan: You know those scars that you might not want to have on your skin? Well, a good spray tan not only gives you that sun-kissed look but cover up those stretch marks.

Water bottle: You need to keep hydrated. You need to replace what you release, so please ensure that you drink water. Water is also very important for detoxifying.

Fanny packs: Different bands will provide convenience bags for their revellers, but just in case you are not given one, get a fanny pack. This is an easy way to secure your phone and cash. If it’s waterproof, then it keeps them dry from all the elements, whether it be rain or alcohol spillage.

Boots: These are always a better choice over sneakers. They are cuter, comfortable, and protects more of your feet than the sneakers if it rains.

Stretch: Before every workout, you have to warm up, and carnival is definitely an exercise.

Cash: Just for emergencies, ensure that you have this.

Liners: Women, please have those pantyliners. You are going to be sweating all day. Using portable potties all day, that might not have toilet paper.
