Yellowman, Admiral Tibet roll back the years
Hits from the '80s and '90s permeated the atmosphere late Saturday night into Sunday morning as stalwarts King Yellowman and Admiral Tibet brought back memories at Mongoose Jamaica Restaurant and Lounge in Ocho Rios, St Ann.
The artistes performed at the second instalment of Old Time Something Come Back Again.
When MC Duane 'DJ Bones' Howard introduced Admiral Tibet, the expectancy level was high, for the singer known for such hits as Serious Times, War in Babylon, Come into the Light, Leave People Business, Don't Try to Diss Me, among several others.
Backed by the resident band, Yard Rootz, the singer did not disappoint and belted out several of his top tracks before being called back for an encore. At the end of his performance, the audience still wanted more. However, he had to make way for Yellowman, who immediately made his physical fitness known, jumping and dancing on stage.
Despite performing just a few of his big hits from his vast catalogue, Yellowman entertained the audience, using the experience and professionalism gained from decades in the business.
He opened with Zunguzung, moved on to I'm Getting Married, Blueberry Hill and several others, before granting a fan his wish by performing Mr Chin. He mixed his performance with comedy, mostly at the expense of DJ Bones, who himself possesses a humorous streak.
"Maybe is about two decades since mi perform in St Ann, but it was very good an' mi love it, yuh nuh," Yellowman said after the show.
And for Admiral Tibet, the night was jus great. "The performance was definitely energetic and the audience was full ah vibes. I feel pleased about the performance," he said.
