The Met: Live in HD 2019 Season In-Cinema Presents La Fanciulla del West at Palace Cineplex
Puccini's musical vision of the American West is vividly brought to life in Giancarlo Del Monaco's atmospheric produc-tion. The 1910 Wild West opera unfolds in the mountains of California during the Gold Rush in 1849-50, where one of Puccini's most appealing heroines - a strong, independent woman - is determined to win the man she loves.
Soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek sings Puccini's gun-slinging heroine in this romantic epic of the Wild West, with the heralded return of tenor Jonas Kaufmann in the role of the outlaw she loves. Zeljko Lucic is the vindictive sheriff Jack Rance, and Marco Armiliato conducts the Met's spirited production. Puccini's 'American' opera is based on David Belasco's play The Girl of the Golden West and will be on screen Sunday, November 4, 2018, 11:30 a.m. at Palace Cineplex.
