David, 38, Banker, no kids
I knew David from high school. He was at Kingston College while I was at Holy Childhood, and we would meet up at club events, and he lived just around the corner from my old house. Needless to say, that was aeons ago. When I ran into him at the Tropical Plaza, I didn't recognise him. He recognised me and called to me.
Once I heard the name he used, I knew it was someone I knew from school - no one else knew that name. He asked me where I had been hiding myself, and when he realised I didn't recognise him, he re-introduced himself to me and two of my children who were with me. We talked for a while exchanged numbers and went on our way.
one week later
It would be the following week before I heard from him again. He called to say he was coming to my town and would love if we could finish the conversation we had started. We planned to that Friday evening. The next day when I arrived at my office, I had flowers waiting at my desk. The card read "Nothing happens by accident" and it wasn't signed. It didn't need to be because it wasn't like I had anyone sending me flowers.
When Friday came around, I was actually looking forward to the evening. We were going to dinner and I took forever getting dressed. Every outfit seemed wrong and I was extremely nervous. It must have been the flowers.
I arrived at the restaurant a few minutes late and he was waiting. After placing our order, we began to talk. David filled me in on his life and I told him about mine. He said he wasn't surprised that I had a big family because I always had a caring nature even as a child.
He said he always wanted a family, but it didn't seem like that was the plan God had for him. He was born with a blockage to the part of his testicles that stores sperms and has resigned himself to being uncle to his sibling's children.
It was an amazing night and I truly enjoyed myself. He would be leaving for Kingston on Sunday and offered to take me and my children to the beach on Sunday morning before he left. I accepted his offer for myself, but told him I wasn't ready to take my children, until I knew what we were doing. David respected that and we said goodnight with a quick kiss.
I am actually excited about Sunday. I can't wait to see him again.
