Experience POSH Fashion

From stylish prints to vibrant patterns, shades of darkness to bold and daring colour. If you are looking for high fashion suitable for the everyday woman, then look no further: POSH is here to the rescue.
The Flair had a one-on-one with personal shopper, stylist and POSH owner Tamia Carey, who told us a little bit more about the POSH experience here in Jamaica.
Originally into accessories, she recently branched out in the clothing aspect of the fashion world and it has been full speed ahead ever since.
"When ladies would come to buy accessories, they always spoke about the lack of clothing options. Everyone had the same stuff!" she explained.
Having launched her accessories line via Facebook, the demand for a physical store became so great, she said, that it just could not be ignored. And in December 2013, POSH walk-in store at Ardenne Road in St Andrew was born.
Targeting the fashion-forward curvy woman in carrying sizes six to 3xl, POSH's dresses, tops and bags are all one-of-a-kind because they are all designed by her and sewn right here in Jamaica.
Business, since then, has been very receptive, and Carey noted, "People invite friends for the next visit and we get countless referrals. Women like the individual experience and attention they get. They also love the fabrics and having a piece that's one-of-a-kind, just as unique as they are."
So far, they carry the Tamia Carey collection, with all the pieces designed and sewn in-store.
"I only make one of any dress and style. Our maxi dresses always fly off the rack. It's a classic style that lends itself to so many occasions while still allowing for comfort. You can never have too many!" Carey remarked.
They also carry a few pieces from other local designers, such as T&T.
Fabric costs and electricity pose a challenge in keeping down production costs, but the businesswoman prides herself in offering one-of-a-kind original designs which are never duplicated and are at affordable prices.
Staying true to form, she still carries accessories, and they have now come out with their very own handbag line. All bags can be washed, as they are made from natural materials like canvas and leather, and, as usual, anything they make is extraordinary.
Carey has also paid close attention to catering to full-figured women who find it hard to come across trendy, stylish, fashionable yet comfortable clothing.
"I was inspired by my business partner of LiveStush, Fern Elise, who expressed concern in not being able to find the latest for the curvy and voluptuous, so I decided to fill that fashionable gap, adding a touch of sophisticated chic in the mix," she revealed.
As it relates to expansion, this is what Carey had to say, "We would like to expand our bag line, allowing charities to make special bag collections or dress collections and have the proceeds go to their cause. To expand, you really need a good support team. If I didn't have the aid of my social media team from my other baby - STUSH Marketing, great photographers, and our wonderful models, I would not be able to market POSH in the way I have. Many of these services can be bartered in-kind, so make good working relationships that can benefit you both."
