TCM red carpet for Moda Market
Trade shows are where the fashion business really happens - where buyers and designers create lasting relationships and merchandisers get to select their favourite pieces from their favourite collections. It is this thought that inspired The Collection Moda's Kerry-Ann Clarke and Aiesha Panton from Pussbackfoot, to join forces for the inaugural staging of TCM's Moda Market.
Just picture an exquisitely curated marketplace that is more than just a platform for generating revenue. Emerging talents in art and fashion will get to showcase their latest creations while buyers are given the opportunity to discover some interesting finds of the finest quality.
"As part of TCM's mandate to promote the business aspect of the fashion industry and showcase fashion as a viable means of economic development in Jamaica and the Caribbean region, we will be using our trade show as a platform for our designers to interact with potential clients and further increase the demand for Caribbean merchandise," expressed Clarke, TCM's event director.
Over 30 designers and artisans were carefully selected for the event, which is being touted as the ultimate one-day shopping experience. TCM's Moda Market will be curated by Conversation Piece which is an initiative by Panton to create one-of-a-kind retail experiences.
The venue at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel, will be transformed into a shopper's paradise and guests will be given the royal treatment as they shop some of the most exclusive finds in fashion, art and lifestyle.
A live DJ and libations, courtesy of Heineken's speciality beer cocktails, will set the atmosphere for shoppers to peruse at leisure.
Guests can also opt to participate in the Victoria Mutual Silent Auction for a limited edition piece by renowned Jamaican artist Gene Pearson. Pearson's works are featured in the private collections of international celebrities such as Stevie Wonder and Arnold Schwarzenegger, and have been gifted to various dignitaries by successive Jamaican prime ministers. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to The Edna Manley Foundation.
The event is slated for November 23 and will run from 11 a.m to 8 p.m. Tickets cost $1,000 and are available at Flow's Pavillion, Sovereign or New Kingston branches.
TCM's Moda Market will feature everything from jewellery and accessories to exclusive designer bags as well as art and home décor. Guests can shop in solitude or let New York celebrity stylist Carlton Jones and the rest of Moda Market's style concierge enhance their shopping experience with some insight and style tips. Jones has styled top celebrities like Queen Latifa, Jay-Z, and even the first lady herself, Michelle Obama, and has worked with magazines such as Vogue, GQ and Essence.
