'Wuk up' line up

Soca junkies! Are you ready for your weekly fix? Well, welcome to FÍting with Flair, where we explore all things relating to one of the most highly anticipated seasons of the year- carnival.

The countdown has already begun, with many by now enrolling in a gym of their choice in order to achieve the ultimate 'road-ready body'. And while we are all about getting fit for fÍte, how about venturing into the party scene? That's the best way to work up a sweat and have fun doing it.

To help in doing this, we have declared, based on the weekly events, four nights dedicated to soca. Here is what to expect from our 'wuk up' line-up:

Tabanca Tuesdays:

Tabanca Tuesdays is one of Jamaica's premium Soca series, produced by SunNation. The four-part series, officially launched on the last Tuesday of January at @ Twentythree, and if you missed the second instalment last month, don't worry, you have two more to go. Be sure to look out for the final two stagings on March 31 and April 7, respectively.

We Wednesdays:

Veteran DJ Kurt Riley, in association with Riddim Stream and presents We Wednesdays: the Future of Soca, this and every Wednesday at Pepper's Bar and Lounge, Upper Waterloo Road. Also on the DJ line-up are Mario C and Richie Ras. Women are free, so if you want to get loose, We Wednesdays is the place to be.

Soca Remedy:

Regency at the Terra Nova has jumped on the carnival train in providing a real remedy for those experiencing stressful Thursdays. Enjoy the sophisticated chic atmosphere, both inside and out, indulge in the variety of exotic mixes available, all while listening and dancing to the latest and greatest soca hits.

Karnival Countdown:

Karnival Countdown started their soca season with a bang at the Mahogany Tree Bar at Devon House on February 5. After taking a seven-day break two weeks ago, they returned even bigger and better last week at their new location - Constant Spring Golf Club. It's TGIT (Thank God It's Thursday), so don't hesitate to celebrate the weekend early with them every Thursday.

Bacchanal Friday:

If you want to tap into your soca powers and fÍte for hours, why not do so with the king of all parties? Bacchanal Fridays, put on by the Bacchanal Jamaica team, is the ultimate stop for soca revellers to prepare for the grand showdown - road march.
