When it comes to your health, nature has provided an oil for all our needs. Going organic with some of these natural oils is far better than anything you could ever find in the cosmetics aisle or even your own medicine cabinet. And the best part? They are easily available right here in Jamaica. We went shopping at Earth Elements and here is what we found.


Castor Oil


We may all know that castor oil stimulates hair growth, but this oil is also great for other ailments, including relieving constipation. It helps as a muscle relaxer and is great for arthritis. However, it is not without its side effects, so consult with a doctor before ingesting.


Coconut Oil


Coconut oil is the ultimate superhero of natural oils. It is the ultimate moisturiser for your skin and hair. It is also good in your food and helps to lower your cholesterol levels. It fight the crimes against your body, so it's a must-have.

Raspberry Seed Oil

This oil, also known as nature's sunscreen, is a natural sunblock as it contains natural SPF It also has anti-ageing benefits.


Tea Tree Oil


When it comes to the superman of essential oil, you should be thinking of tea tree oil. Its antibiotic properties makes it great in treating fungus and cold sores.


Lavender Oil


Lavender oil is the ultimate relaxer - eliminating nervous tension. It stimulates sleep, so a few drops go a long way for individuals with insomnia. It is also a pain reliever. This oil is a great addition to your skincare regimen as it disinfects both skin and hair, and is great for persons with eczema.


Argan Oil


This is a great treatment to strengthen your hair. One drop rubbed into the palm of your hands and applied to the face helps with acne as well as keeping your skin glowing when used as a moisturiser at nights.


Sunflower Oil


Due to its anti-inflammatory benefits, sunflower oil reduces the number and severity of asthma attacks. It is also great for relieving arthritis.


Lemon grass Oil


Apart from its repellent purposes when it comes to mosquitoes, lemon grass has a host of other benefits, which includes pain relief and muscle relaxer. It assists with pain caused by viral infections and works as an antidepressant. This is a must-have in your home.


Jojoba Oil


This is an active ingredient in some hair moisturisers, but its benefits surpass the scalp. Its anti-inflammatory benefits assist with eczema and psoriasis, while its moisturising benefits help with everything from chapped lips to cracked heels.


Moringa Oil or Ben Oil


This can be used to disinfect wounds. Mixed with a few drops of lavender oil, it is the perfect sleep aid. When it comes to the skin, moringa oil has great exfoliating properties.
