This week is all about the international scene! With a splash of local happenings, of course. So let's get cracking! Here's this week's 'Twas Trending.
Honouree Rih Rih
Rihanna was honoured at MTV's Video Music Awards with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. At last Sunday's show, she treated viewers and the audience to not one, not two, but four performances. It was, however, her trip down the dancehall lane that trended in the hours following the award ceremony, and had Jamaicans yelling 'Pull up!'
Rihanna and Drake
We could not help but love the 'Ode to Rihanna' which rapper Drake delivered before handing over the award to the superstar. The line "I've been in love with her since I was 22 years old" had everyone going "Aww" and screaming with joy. Many were a bit disappointed because they thought it was actually a proposal. Let's hope, for their sake and ours, such major moves will be made in years to come.
Just when you thought Queen B couldn't outdo herself, she does! Delivering a 15-minute performance of her album Lemonade, she has reclaimed her throne as one of the greatest female performers in history! You go, BeyoncÈ!
Beyonce and Blue Ivy
Speaking of Queen B, her red-carpet walk with Princess Blue Ivy at the VMAs went viral! The two are the true epitome of mother-daughter goals.
Teyanna Taylor body goals
Now, let's talk about body goals! Teyanna Taylor's body in Kanye West's recently premiered music video, Fade, broke the Internet and had everyone buzzing! To add insult to injury, on our part, she recently had a baby! She has all the men drooling and all the women hitting the gym to acquire the ultimate TT body!
Police investigate Breezy
It seems that RnB singer Chris 'Breezy' Brown just can't catch a break. Video of police surrounding his home began trending faster that anyone could ever imagine. Allegations are that Breezy had threatened a former beauty pageant winner with a gun. From there, Brown went live on Facebook to publicly declare that when the police approached his home and asked about going in to find a gun, he exercised his constitutional right to tell the police to return with a search warrant. The media rushed to his home for the exclusive. In the end, he lost the battle and was subsequently arrested but later released.
It was lights out last Saturday (August 27) and Jamaicans were not happy about the hours-long all-island power outage. By Sunday, JPS was still trending.
