A woman is multidimensional, a Jill of all trades, and because we have so many goals, we sometimes need something that keeps us on track and focused.

That is where a vision board comes in. Transformational and sensuality, certified life and relationship coach Caleen Diedrick, shared with Flair the purpose and most effective way to create and use a vision board to achieve all your goals.

Diedrick defines a vision board as a physical representation of the goals an individual wants to achieve.

“As the name suggests, it's an actual board — card board, white board, cartridge paper, that is decorated with pictures, quotes etc that represent the dreams and personal aspirations of the individual,” Diedrick explains.

A vision board is a great way to help one clarify and maintain a mental image of the things they wish to accomplish.  It is particularly helpful as it facilitates more concentrated and deeper visualisation. She explains that studies have shown that visualisation is a superb way to train the brain to focus one’s efforts and energy into the manifestation of the things they desire.

Creating a vision board is not only rewarding, but it is also fun and can be accomplished alone or with family and friends. Here is how you can get started.

1. First you have to determine where you want to put your vision board. This is important because you will need to place it in a strategic location where you can see it daily.

2. You then need to decide what is it that you want to put on your vision board. What will this board represent? Diedrick notes that you can source pictures from magazines and newspapers to represent your lifestyle and career of choice. Ensure that you choose pictures that not only means something to you, but that also motivates, excites and brings you joy.

3. Your board should also include quotes that resonates with you and speaks to your goals. Make them your mantra.

“Vision boards are very effective in terms of helping people to really consistently focus on their dreams, and plot their trajectory to the stars,” said Diedrick.

She advises that vision boards can be made more efficient if you make it a priority to spend  allotted time focusing on each item you intend to manifest.

The pictures and wording help to stimulate the excitement along with the mental image of seeing your dreams come through. One should actively engage these thoughts and immerse themselves in positivity that will help make their dreams a reality. She advises you repeat the quotes with enthusiasm,  incorporating it in one’s daily practise helps to foster a positive mindset and serve to rejuvenate and refocus the individual whenever there is doubt or frustration.
