It's a new year, and with it came a few surprises from broken hearts, new flames, and even unexpected losses. Here are the trending highlights.
Carrie Fisher and
Princess Leia is gone! Farewell to the iconic Star Wars beauty, Carrie Fisher. And just when we began to come to terms with her death, her beloved mother, Debbie Reynolds, also passed away while making her daughter's funeral arrangements. It was as if the burden was too much for her to bear. It was reported that she even told her son how much she missed Carrie and wanted to be with her. Our heart goes out to this family. This is a great loss for everyone.
English songwriter and singer George Michael also passed away last week. It was rumoured that he was suffering from lung issues. The tributes poured in for the late icon who passed at 53 years old. May his soul rest in peace.
Tiny and T.I. split
Here's a break-up many never saw coming. Or did they? T.I. and Tiny made their reality show debut years ago, and have been in the spotlight ever since. Tiny, who has always appeared as T.I.'s 'ride or die', was the one who actually filed for a divorce, after it was rumoured that her husband was upset after she posed for a picture with his arch-enemy, Floyd Mayweather. After all they've been through, some wondered, how could this cause the split? Maybe this was just the straw that broke the camel's back.
Yes, this is the way to end 2017. Well, at least for Drizzy Drake. The rumour mill is going into overdrive with him being the new cub for the Ain't Your Mama singer. Well, we cannot blame her because Drake is fine! And, we certainly cannot blame Drake. Look at her body - her booty says it all. Well, allegedly, Rihanna is mad at J Lo and has unfollowed the multitalented woman on Instagram. But if you know anything about Jenny from the block, she really does not care for drama. You know what they always say: out with the old, in with the new. #newflames #DraLo
Serena surprise engagement
Everyone was caught by surprise when tennis superstar Serena Williams announced that she said yes and is now engaged to Reddit cofounder, Alexis Ohanian. Her proposal, posted in the form of a poem on Reddit, took place in Rome where they first met, and he has since reposted her words, noting she said yes.
While we are all happy for her, the question on everyone's mind is when did they even started dating? They kept their romance off air and squashed rumours of any connection beyond a friendship. Well, those Drake rumours circulating some time ago must've been pure speculation. Anyhow, congrats to the lovely couple.
