Every girl should have Lacey Things
Once upon a time, beach days were limited to public holidays and weekends. Now, every day is a beach day. Depending on where you are located, it could be before or after work, or that precious day off. For the females, Janine McLaren has you covered with swimwear for the year-round season.
1 What inspired Lacey Things?
Growing up in St Ann, I was always in love with water. Almost every day is a beach day in Jamaica. So you can just imagine how many swimsuits I actually own. I have always been unique with my choice when it comes to clothes, and that has also influenced my taste in bikinis. Whenever I went to the beach with friends or posted a picture on social media, I would get messages asking about my bikinis. Lacey Things is inspired by my unique taste mixed with affordability. I turned my love for a fun bikini into a business.
2 Who is your target audience?
All swimsuits sold by Lacey's Things are colourful and tropical. They have cute prints and are styled to fit the body. All bikinis that I have are hand-picked for females, based on what I feel would look good for different body types. My target audience is definitely any female who sees the beach as their second home and just want a fun bikini that is not only sexy and flirty but complements their body.
3 What has the reaction been like?
I am elated with the reaction I have received, not just locally but internationally. These bikinis go really fast. My customers seem to always be waiting for new swimsuits to be posted. You would have to be really lucky to grab one before they are all gone.
4 What makes your swimsuits different?
The swimsuits are chosen based on my style. I like to be different, and that has always been obvious when it comes to my style.
5 How do you market your line?
As a trained graphic designer, branding came easy. I also do all the photography, and around-town deliveries when I have time. I do hope that this business continues to be successful as there will be an official website soon and a physical store in the future.
