Careen Bailey is seeking to improve the mental health of others with handcrafted bracelets made of gorgeous natural elements etched with inspirational words. Fayth Accents uses things such as black lava stone, the much-admired black onyx known for its healing properties, and charming fresh-water pearls are the building blocks used to perfect the creations.

Having no experience in making jewellery, but having a clever business mind and an attitude to serve others, Bailey who is also a charted accountant tapped into her creativity. This led her to leap into the entrepreneurial field earlier this year.

"I named my company one year before I started it. I didn't even know what it would have been, but I believe I was led by God. I have a zeal for art and since I was a child, I wanted to be something along that line," she said with a chirpy smile.

She started making the adorable bracelets as a pastime activity and enjoys the therapeuticbenefits and relaxation that each affords her. And before she knew it, the process became her passion.

Her decision to explore charity jewels stemmed from formidable relationships she has with family and friends who either suffer from depression, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia.

"Once people have been diagnosed with a mental-health problem, there is no room for them to go back to normal in Jamaica. I don't intend for my business to be like the regular ventures out there. I want to be able to give back to persons who are in need. My bracelets are meant to inspire persons to embrace spirituality, their inner beauty, and self love," she told Flair.

In her attempt to denounce the marginalisationto which mental-health sufferers fall victim, she contributes a portion of her sales to a Mensana. It's a mental-health support group in Kingston, which she also volunteers as an adviser.

DIVERSITY

Currently, she has four standard eye-catching collections and a number of remarkable seasonal assortments. They are available in varied striking designs and colours. Tassels, birthstone, a male collection dubbed His Beat, and Unisex curio are her creations.

With only a virtual existence, the talented soul craves a more favourable and stylish impact in the fashion arena. Providing more sassy styles and adding trendy necklaces and earrings to her collections to jazz up your style are her priority. But that's not all.

"I want to expand, get a physical location and employ persons who have been through mental illnesses or are recovering. I'll teach them to craft the bracelets and, of course, to continue to donate towards the cause," an enthusiastic Bailey declared.
