A sea of greenery boasting waves of black and white with shades of gray and palm trees is what greets you on a visit to the newly opened Sea Deck Restaurant.

Coupled with that is the seemingly cool 'ocean' breeze from the great outdoors caressing the skin and the naturally spiced aromas of seafood greeting you, playing melodious notes on your taste buds.

The Sea Deck Restaurant opened its doors four months ago, successfully crossing borders in being the only restaurant of its kind within the Kingston area to offer a quality five-star seafood experience for a reasonable price.

"I love food and I love to cook," chef and restaurant owner Yan Yao confessed to Food. He has been a restaurateur for 14 years, so steering his ship and docking at their location at the Orchid Village Plaza on Barbican Road, was one of many stops he made on his journey to providing mouth watering goodness to the masses. Drink lovers aren't to be left out, and his bar is stocked with an array of libations to choose from.

Experienced local chef Garfield Sutherland was a great catch for Yao's culinary team and, between the two, they snagged a menu of seafood varieties which features deliciously prepared lobster, conch, shrimp, squid, and, of course a myriad of fish dishes, all done to order, using local ingredients and served up fresh to tantalise palettes. The King Crab takes pride of place, caressing your taste buds like no one else can boast they do on this here island.

tasty pickings

Other tasty pickings include a daily special soup, savoury ribs, chicken, pork and burgers. They even have vegetarian dishes of steamed vegetables, tossed salad and tofu rounding off the wide range of choices.

Decked with a semi-indoor and an outdoor dining space, with the same diversity reflected in their quaint bar area, Yao noted that, for him, dining at Sea Deck is all about the experience, enjoying not only the seafood but the view as well.

Opening hours are Sundays to Thursdays 12 noon to 10 p.m., and Fridays to Saturdays: 12 noon to 11 p.m. and delivery services are available. So stop flipping through those Food pages and cruise on down to Shop #7 Orchid Plaza in Barbican and prepare to voyage on this love affair with food while indulging in the smooth sailing of Sea Deck, where they 'seafood perfectly'.
