Located in Sovereign North, Roe Japanese restaurant specialises in authentic Japanese cuisine, crafted under the guidance of Chef Michiko Asonuma.

A chef for more than 10 years, Chef Michiko is ready to seduce your tastebuds with her creations, especially since this will be Roe's first time participating in the Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week.

"We are proud of what we produce and we want Jamaicans to know about it," states Selena Deleon, part owner of the restaurant.

As for the menu, to start, patrons can chose between a miso soup or a shrimp shumai (a Japanese-style golden-crusted shrimp dumpling served with mustard sauce).

For entrées, the offerings are even more varied. Patrons can choose from the delectable Yaki Udon Noodles, (Japanese stir fried noodles with mixed vegetables, shrimp and beef, pork or chicken), the savoury chicken teriyaki dinner or the delicious sushi bento box.

As for the signature dish, Chef Michiko's special Hamachi Joe is sure to have patrons salivating.

"They have the option of grilled hamachi or teriyaki hamachi, and it is served with rice and stir fry vegetables. More Jamaicans are gravitating towards Japanese cuisine, so this is an excellent location for them to come," Chef Michiko stated. According to Deleon, Roe's Restaurant Week menu will appeal to everyone.

"We chose what we felt Jamaicans would like. Persons who have never tried sushi before, along with avid sushi lovers, will both be in for a treat. Our menu items will appeal to everyone. Jamaicans like cook food, so we went with that. Along with the Hamachi Joe, our rum cake is another signature item on the dessert menu. It is very popular and our customers often remark that it is the best rum cake they've ever had," Deleon stated.

Michiko prides herself on not only providing delicious food, but also pays close attention to the overall experience.

"We have excellent fusion food. We fuse Jamaican and Asian cuisine and we have a diverse menu," she stated.
