If you want to explore savoury indulgence against the backdrop of five-star dining and soothing ambience, then 689 by Brian Lumley is the restaurant to be for Restaurant Week.

"Last year, as a new restaurant, we wanted to introduce ourselves to the market and it was beyond our expectations. Restaurant Week is a unique cultural experience, and we decided that we wanted to continue in providing authentic Jamaican and Caribbean cuisine, so we rejoined the esteemed foodie family," award winning chef and owner Brian Lumley, told Food.

Creativity in the cuisine sets them apart, since patrons will taste something that they have probably never tasted before. Combine that with that the sophisticated chic decor customised by Tai Flora and great service from a well-trained team, and you have a winner for this upcoming restaurant week.

Sous Chef Lendave Burton gave us a taste of the featured menu by preparing the curried chicken spring roll and oxtail lasagna. He pointed out that the curried chicken spring roll, flavourful curry chicken ground to perfect bite-size pieces and snugly wrapped into a batter, melts in mouths on contact. It is then served with their creamy avocado mayo sauce and topped with mouth-watering sweet chilli sauce so you get a enticing combination of both sweet and savoury.

The oxtail lasagna, he noted, is bursting with delectable goodness, made with a homemade marinade of natural herbs and spices (which, top secret of course) all join forces to create a culinary masterpiece. The homemade tomato sauce is simmered for five hours, resting for half an hour and then rapidly cooked. Fused with that are three different types of cheeses used to 'turn up' the flavour.

The bar is not to be left out as they will be featuring exotic drinks just for Restaurant Week. From Sweet Mary to Sweet Kisses or the 689 signature Fire and Ice, their is no end to the culinary excitement.

With a menu like that, you are definitely guaranteed the complete package once you step into 689 by Brian Lumley in New Kingston.
