Christopher Allen is sure of one thing - his Kri'so Lounge and Wine Bar, which opened almost a year ago at Taj Mahal Shopping Plaza in Ocho Rios, is the resort town's first such facility.

The fully air-conditioned bar, is comfortably tucked away at one end of the plaza and also boasts a cigar lounge.

It is stocked with a wide variety of wines, a lot of them from California, which produces some of the best wines in the world, such as Conundrum, Meiomi, Rodney Strong, along with the entire Beringer line.

However, there are several other brands, such as Freixenet from Spain, Clifford Bay from New Zealand. Whatever your preference, Kri'so may have the perfect bottle for you.

After a soft opening, Kri'so has grown and Allen is confident it will become the number-one drinking spot in Ocho Rios.

"We want to market it as Ocho Rios' only wine bar," Allen told Food. "So far, the patronage has not been bad, we are still not quite exposed as yet, but I think, once we are exposed, we won't have (enough) space, because it's very comfortable, it's fully air-conditioned and it's one of a kind in Ocho Rios. Furthermore, it's centrally located and it's in a secure mall - Taj Mahal, so you can come in and enjoy your favourite wines."

Allen said Ocho Rios, in his opinion, is a growing town and needs a wine bar to add to offer variety to the town's drinking options. He also believes that the added benefits of wine is something that should work in his favour.
