All about pasta
Have your pick of 20 pasta dishes designed by 10 of eastern Jamaica's best chefs, at this Sunday's Pasta Supreme - an all-you-can-eat food festival.
To be held at the at the Chinese Benevolent Association in St Andrew, it will run from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m.
Patrons will also enjoy delicious soups, salads, and delectable desserts.
Here is a look at some of the delicious pastas that you can enjoy at Pasta Supreme from some of the participating eateries:
100 Hope Road
Headed by Executive Chef Kathryn and supported by Grill Chef Keniel Walker, 100 Hope Road will provide you with a modern twist on some well-loved classics. Team 100 will be serving chicken fettuccine alfredo and shrimp Penne rose, rich in flavour and especially satisfying.
A-Bar Restaurant and Lounge
A-Bar is more than just 'a bar'. A-Bar is home to a much talked-about jerk chicken Penne pasta. This famous dish will be featured at Pasta Supreme along with a roasted vegetable primavera pasta.
The only authentic African cuisine restaurant in Jamaica, Café Africa brings a welcomed twist to what we Jamaicans think of as pasta. Come to Pasta Supreme and enjoy Egyptian koshary and chicken tagine with couscous, created under the direction of Chef Steven Golding.
As the name suggests. Fusion Chefs promises to bring an exciting mix of flavours to tantalise the taste buds of patrons at Pasta Supreme. Led by Chef John Comrie, Fusion Chefs will present vegan surprise and the unique dish twist of faith that includes jackfruit.
Great House Caterers
Led by Theo Smith, Great House Caterers specialises in Italian, French and Caribbean cuisines. The creative Mac and Cheese Spring Roll is pasta like you've never had it before and the jerk chicken Penne with coconut cream is just divine.
JoJo's Jerk Pit
JoJo's Jerk Pit is a local restaurant and bar that has the feel of a pub, and with head Chef Anna Chin in the kitchen, it feels like home. Come to Pasta Supreme and have Anna's Sunday Dinner, a twist on traditional baked mac and cheese that incorporates roasted beef and fried ripe plantains.
Kaluga Gourmet Access
With a focus on Jamaican fusion, Kaluga incorporates traditional Jamaican spices to create inspired pasta. Under the experienced and inventive guidance of Chef Akeeli Dixon, Kaluga will have on show its pimento chicken pasta with Scotch bonnet cream, and coconut ginger shrimp fettuccine.
Fuzion Food Service
Christian Sweeney of Fuzion Food Service takes pasta to another level. Consider his Pasta Supreme dishes: pumpkin red curry creme and roasted tomato and smoked herring creme pastas.
Opa! Greek Restaurant brings their authentic Greek cuisine to Pasta Supreme. Known for its traditional offerings, Opa!, under the direction of Alexx Antaeus, will present Keftedakia, meatballs in a tomato-based sauce and poseidon, seafood pasta served with a creamy mint sauce.
Peckish 876 is the new catering brand by Joseph Johnson of Concepts by J fame. Peckish 876 will have their rarely done chicken lasagne and the mouth-watering guava-glazed shrimp scampi.
Toss & Roll Salad Bar
Toss & Roll Salad Bar is Pasta Supreme's exclusive salad provider. Their salads traditionally feature signature ingredients giving dishes a unique flavour. Expect no less at Pasta Supreme. Under the leadership of Orando Stennett the best can be expected from the moscato fruit medley, kale citrus salad and the mango-based Caribbean salad.
Akafe Catering is a new business headed by Akai Lindsay, which will be responsible for the Supreme Soup Bar. Akafe will be providing signature soups suitable to pair with the assortment of pastas that will be on show. Seafood medley, gungo rosemary and vegetable chicken soup will be provided as appetisers to prepare patrons for the feast ahead.
D.A.M. Good Brownies and Essence of Hazel
The dessert bar at Pasta Supreme will be the best of both worlds. D.A.M. Good Brownies meets Essence of Hazel. With these two creative providers of delectable pastry and sweet treats working together, no patron will be left unsatisfied. The dessert menu will include brownie parfaits, white chocolate caramel brownie bites, piÒa colada cups, chocolate-drizzled caramel popcorn, vanilla coconut cakes with a mango purÈe topping along with red velvet and sour cherry buttercream squares, just to name a few.
