The atmosphere is filled with elegance and class once Fae Ellington enters the space. But do you know that among her dozens of attributes that she is also a foodie? Which is quite fitting as she is one of The Gleaner's Restaurant Week ambassadors.

Over the past few months, 218 Gourmet on Mountain View Avenue has created quite a buzz on all social media platforms with breathtaking photos of meals prepared by chef Andre Sewell. It is safe to say that the talent for cooking is in his blood, because computer science was his area of study. His parents were the pioneers to what has become his success story.

Red peas soup was the soup of the day, and the sound of the spoon touching the base of the bowl was testament to the great taste as Fae had every last drop. Handing over the bowl to the waitress, she was beaming with excitement as she knew there were more great treats to come.

Personal delivery

Escoveitched snapper and mango BBQ chicken served with fried breadfruit, fried bammy and sweet potato was Fae's dish of choice, and this was delivered by the head chef himself.

Quite the charmer, Sewell was invited to sit while the ambassador dined. They spoke of the difference and uniqueness in his dishes, and in due time Fae realised that passion was the reason for the success in the humble walls of 218 Gourmet.

"Stop!" Exclaimed Fae. Persons stopped chewing, talking and stared with fright and curiosity. "This bad!" several audible sighs of relief were heard and the silence was broken with chuckles. Sewell's dish was given the stamp of approval by Fae, who boasted that she herself was a great cook and therefore it was a great compliment.

Chocolate and jackfruit entremet a chocolate biscuit base, with layers of salted caramel, chocolate cremeux and jackfruit jelly frosted with a spice rum cheesecake mousse was the closer. It would be perfect for a feature on the Food Network as no one had ever thought of putting such flavours together.

Very serious about her health and fitness, Fae had decided not to have dessert, but being open to new things, she had to give this dessert a try. For this communication specialist, there were simply no words to describe this taste of heaven.

In fact, she should still be walking off the entire slice, so you may pass her on your way to 218 Gourmet.
