Restaurant week (RW) is fast approaching and the sweet aromas that await you are nothing short of spectacular. To whet your taste buds on the delicious goodies in store, Food visited the Altamont Court Mango Tree Restaurant and was amazed by the tasty dishes of junior sous chef Dion Gordon.

Making their second appearance this November, Mango Tree is well prepared and excited to take you to new gastronomic heights. "We want to bring new things to the table and after doing a survey we realised that people enjoyed our pastas, ribs and fish so we decided to add a special touch to the dishes and recreate customers' favourites," Gordon told Food.

The young chef, who has acquired a great amount of skill since her nine-year stay at Mango Tree, has dedicated most of her time to mastering her craft. Growing up with her grandmother in the kitchen, Gordon knew cooking was going to be a big part of her life, but it wasn't until seeing Chef Karl Thomas' artistry that she was inspired to ultimately wear and deserve a chef's jacket.

After completing her studies at HEART Trust National Training Agency, Gordon was sent to Mango Tree for work experience, but after proving her skill in the kitchen, the restaurant beside the poolside became her home.

Starting out as a prep cook, Gordon made her way up the ladder, creating delicious masterpieces that keep customers coming back.

The chef, who is excited for the upcoming 'foodies' week, is ready to whip up some of her best-flavoured dishes. Here is a little insight on the tastes coming your way.
