Sugary soirée at Sweetart Bake Expo 2019
Bakers, cake decorators and foodies from across the country made a sweet stop in Kingston last Sunday for the highly anticipated Sweetart Bake Expo.
The mouth-watering experience was executed by Nestlé Toll House, which delivered a high-quality and warm experience for families.
In its fifth year, the event has made strides in bringing creative awareness to all things cakes. The sugary event has since expanded its weekend portfolio to a week, hosting several cake making, decorating and entrepreneurial workshops. Its final stop landed them on the strip of the Grand Jamaica Suite at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel.
The atmosphere of pure sweetness whipped up the perfect opportunity for dessert lovers to indulge in soft, appetising foods made of a mixture of flour, eggs, water and several other ingredients. And to top off the sugarland adventure, on-stage demonstrations and presentations educating curious foodies about cake baking kept many entertained.
It was all about living the sweet life and Shanna’s Pastry Craze supported just that. The Cake and Bake House brought a creative flair to the occasion, with delicious, skilfully crafted animal-shaped breads. Cupcakes, breads, puddings and cakes were the major highlights of the day’s festive affair. Alex Creations provided an array of enticing flavours that melted on the taste buds. It proved that happiness was only one cupcake away. The baking house was also on a mission, as at the end of the day, it donated a part of its proceeds to a special child who suffers from leukaemia.
But the day wouldn’t have been completed without cake toppers. Scryptique Innovations answered the call and delivered fabulous, eye-catching pieces, putting the icing on the day’s event.
Talented cake artists and sweet treat makers displayed sensational palate-pleasing creations in an intense competition. In the end, Danielle’s Catering walked away with the prize for the best tasting cake. Suga Mama Cakes rose on top as the victor in the cake topper category, Vi-Del Sweet Bliss took first place for the best wedding cake.
