Triphina’s encourages persons to ‘Treasure Your Health’
Saturday was quite a busy day for the staff of Triphina's Pharmacy & Gift Centre at shop 1A 7th Avenue Plaza, Constant Spring Road, as patrons came out in their numbers to enjoy the many goodies and services on offer at its annual health fair.
Held under the theme 'Treasure Your Health', presented in partnership with Our Lady of The Angels Preparatory and The Home & School Association, throughout the day, customers were treated to big discounts on all prescriptions, as well as free HIV, blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol tests.
"We believe that the first step to good health is awareness and education, and not everyone has easy financial and geographical access to such amenities, so we at Triphina's have always made it our goal to offer our customers the best quality at the best prices and at a very convenient location," pharmacist Aneeki Scott shared.
"Saturday's health fair was one of the many ways we go beyond the call to give our customers the Triphina's experience. We offered free HIV testing done by C.H.A.R.E.S. and free blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure testing done by DENK PHARMA. We also had NCB Insurance and Investment adviser Jodian Johnson giving financial advice."
She continued, "We also had representatives from the National Health Fund, Medical Disposables, promoting their Dr Reddy's over-the-counter products, as well as Indies Pharma and Health Brands doing over-the-counter promotions."
Scott said patrons expressed how pleased they were with the many offerings, and appreciated the fact that Triphina's continues to host the health fair annually.
"Persons responded quite well, and it was a delight to see them not only making good use of the free health services, but participating in the various chances to win a prize," the pharmacist noted.
In addition to free refreshments, patrons got a chance to win a 20-inch flat-screen TV by purchasing a raffle ticket; or guess the number of marbles in a jar and win a gift basket. Purchases of over $500 also qualified persons to win a gift basket.
Triphina's Pharmacy & Gift Centre has consistently been acknowledged for exemplary service, for which last year it won the Jamaica Pharmacy Business Award from the Pharmaceutical Society of Jamaica.
"At Triphina's Pharmacy, our motto is 'Promoting Health for Better Living', so our entire practice surrounds that," said Scott.
"In Jamaica, pharmacists are seen as pill pushers. It is our aim at Triphina's to change that image. We ensure interactions with all our patients. Interactions serve to provide patients with knowledge and awareness of the drugs prescribed and/or condition, emphasise instructions and to highlight side effects, if any, and their remedies."
Triphina's also incorporates non-drug tips, do patient follow-ups and monitoring. They take service a step further by calling clients for their birthdays and remind them about prescription refills.
"At Triphina's, an environment is provided that is conducive and accommodating to sick persons. We allow persons to call in, send in pictures or fax prescriptions in advance for convenience. We also do special deliveries. On a daily basis, Triphina's Pharmacy offers free blood sugar and blood pressure tests. We source for patients things they can't find or contact doctors and suggest substitutions for discontinued drugs," said Scott.
"We also have an anti-smoking campaign. The pharmacist works personally with smokers, and has been successful in slowing and stopping smoking of a few patients."
