Team challenge was the theme last Saturday at The Gleaner's Fit 4 Life event at Hope Pastures Park in Hope Pastures, St Andrew. And team members were fiercely competitive, determined that their team would take home the many prizes on offer.

After a warm-up session, Fit 4 Life's fitness coach Marvin Gordon separated the participants into groups, headed by team leaders, and set the targets for the morning.

The series of exercise challenges worked the core, upper body and legs, starting off lightly then increasing in intensity. Each challenge lasted either one, two or three minutes with short breaks in between.

It was indeed a close tie to the end, as each team powered through the routines, none giving up on each challenge Gordon set for them.

In the end, several well-deserved challengers earned prizes such as: gym membership to Life Fit Training Centre, gift baskets from Foska Oats and Blue Diamond Almond Milk, Active fitness bands from Asafa Powell, Kamp Kamila Fitness package, Fit 4 Life T-shirts, and Gleaner-branded merchandise. Participants also got handouts with nutrition tips, courtesy of Fit 4 Life.

Diamond Almond Milk replenished energy with delights made from their products, while Wata provided refreshing rehydration.

Also taking part in the activities were partner Jamaica Moves executive Lyndsey McDonnough, along with members of Body By Kurt, the TrainFit Club, and the Jamaica Cancer Society.

A special shout-out to residents of the Hope Pastures community, young and old, who came out in their numbers.
