Fit 4 Life | Getting fit with yoga wellness
“This was my first time doing yoga and I will definitely do it again. It’s a good addition to Fit 4 Life. I would really want it to be a permanent part of the programme,” noted Raynes ‘Muscle Man Becky’ Beckford, who has been a Fit 4 Lifer since Season 1.
Early Saturday morning, scores of eager participants poured into the Eden Gardens Wellness Resort and Spa on Lady Musgrave Road for the yoga experience, a new element of Fit 4 Life – The Gleaner’s health and fitness initiative now in its third year.
And it was a big hit.
Jo-Hanna Taylor and her Yoga Wellness team ran an amazing session, hosted in three areas – the Savannah and Emerald rooms, as well as a children’s yoga area on the pool deck.
For participant Sandra Henderson, it was over too soon.
“Wow, it’s over already? I could do this all morning,” she shared when the approximately one and half hour session came to an end, allowing participants to enjoy treats from sponsors Jamaica Moves, WATA, PowerAde, Foska Oats, Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Milk, Elle & Vire, Caribbean Choice, Gustazos, Eden Gardens Wellness Resort & Spa, JP St Mary’s, Medical Associates Hospital & Medical Centre, and GraceKennedy Money Services.
Of course, everyone was raring to go for the challenges to win great prizes.
In the end, Roal Nicholas won both the men’s Warrior 3 and Low to High Boat challenges; Arlette Robinson topped the female’s Warrior 3 and goddess sequence challenges; Jevaneish Jonas won the Tree Pose challenge; and the duo of Kelcia Christie and Nathaniel Wallace won the kiddies obstacle race challenge.
