The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) has extended the transition period for the use of its new Smarter Cards by concession passengers.

The company yesterday announced that it will continue to accept cash from concession passengers until this Saturday.

According to the JUTC, operations are now going smoothly with the issuing of Smarter Cards for concession passengers who should now experience little difficulty when picking up their cards.

The JUTC said card distribution has been bolstered at the Half-Way Tree Transport Centre with the addition of eight more distribution windows bringing the number up to 17. Cards may also be obtained at the Spanish Town Bus Park and the JUTC offices at East Parade in downtown Kingston.

The cards are being issued on the spot, except where persons desire to collect the card the following day.

The JUTC also announced that its offices will be open today.
