Washing the feet of lesbians - the public says
Is it the norm for the pastor to be washing the feet of random persons in his congregation, or was this a publicity stunt?
I am not certain of the reasons the ladies' feet were washed, but what I am sure of is that they should not have presented themselves in the house of the Lord as lesbians.
It's quite intriguing for somebody to just make a decision, apparently on behalf of everybody in the church, to have something as touchy as this in a church service. The church needs to establish whether or not the pastor is completely responsible for making those decisions or if certain decisions have to go through the church membership first. You can invite these persons to your church service, but to have them participate in something that is as holy as foot washing, then that is another thing.
Lesbians are like all other sinners. Jesus met with all sorts of sinners. When he was ridiculed, he rebuked his 'ridiculers'. The pastor has a responsibility to minister to people whatever their condition. There can be no justification for not wanting him to wash their feet. He has done nothing wrong.
I don't see anything wrong with it. I think he is just trying to make a change. No matter what you do, you can never please everybody. I bet if the priest had turned them back, people would still have something bad to say about it.
No, sah! No matter if a human right or human wrong. I don't agree. He should have, at least, consulted the members of the congregation before he went and did something like that openly. It's like he is doing that as a sign to the LGBT community that he and his congregation are ready and willing to accept these persons and their lifestyle.
