Education ministry addresses Ruseas' pay grouse
The Ministry of Education says it has released additional sums to Ruseas High School in Hanover to settle retroactive payments to teachers.
Classes at the school were disrupted yesterday after teachers staged a sit-in to protest the non-payment of the money.
It's reported that the retroactive sums have been outstanding since last September.
Director of corporate communication at the Ministry of Education, Byron Buckley, said about $3 million was owed to the teachers.
Buckley said administrators at Ruseas contacted the education ministry requesting additional sums to pay the teachers.
He said the money has since been released to the school and the concerns of the teachers have been addressed.
