AGRICULTURE MINISTER Derrick Kellier has commended Caribbean Broilers and Jamaica Broilers for reducing the price of chicken meat and other products to consumers.

This week, Jamaica Broilers announced that effective Friday, January 9, it would reduce the price of its supply of Grade A whole chicken by $3 per kilogramme, while Caribbean Broilers has announced that effective Monday, January 12, 2015, the price of its Grade A chicken meat will see a reduction of $4.90 per kilo. Caribbean Broilers also announced that a number of its products would also see price reductions, including sausages, eggs, Nutramix Feeds, baby chicks, and Copperwood Pork foods.

In welcoming the price reductions to consumers, Minister Kellier said he would also encourage the companies to continue to reduce prices as grain and other commodity prices continue to fall on the international market.

In addition, the agriculture minister is urging other companies to follow the example set by Jamaica Broilers and Caribbean Broilers and is appealing to all Jamaicans to support local companies by eating what we grow.
