Omar Sweeney is New JSIF head
A month after the departure of Scarlette Gillings, Omar Sweeney has been named as managing director designate for the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF).
Gillings stepped down from the post of managing director after 18 years, making way for Sweeney, who will be the first male to head the poverty-alleviation agency.
Sweeney, who has worked at the JSIF before in the post of operations manager, is a civil engineer by training and has been actively involved in the social and infrastructural development of Jamaica.
Before returning to the JSIF as managing director he served as a regional director, for the Jamaica Public Service Company.
He has also served as a programme director for the Community Renewal Programme at the Planning Institute of Jamaica.
