Death of baby in barrel concerns children's registrar
Children's Registrar Greig Smith says he finds troubling the story surrounding how one-year-old Jaydeen Myers was found dead in a barrel at her home in St Elizabeth Sunday night.
It is reported that the baby's mother was preparing to give him a bath but got distracted by other children.
During that time, the toddler went missing and was unaccounted for for five hours until a family member found her lifeless in a barrel while searching for food.
The police were not clear on whether a search was launched.
However, in a statement yesterday, the children's registrar said the story was cause for concern.
Smith urged anyone with information relating to the case to share it with the police.
Meanwhile, Smith urged parents and caregivers to ensure adequate supervision of every child in their care at all times.
