CANDIDATES WHO, seemingly, have disregarded several available opportunities to sign the Political Code of Conduct could have their names published by the Office of the Political Ombudsman.

Donna Parchment Brown, political ombudsman, told The Gleaner that her office was taking steps to highlight the names of those who have given a commitment to embrace the code during the campaign period.

FAILURE TO SIGN

However, she indicated that the public should also know the names of those candidates who have been given several opportunities to ink the document but have not come forward to do so.

She said that some candidates in the parishes of St Andrew, Manchester, St Elizabeth, St Thomas, and Clarendon have failed to sign the code.

Parchment Brown said the names of those who have not signed would be published this week.

She said it was important for her to be able to hold candidates accountable to a personal commitment to uphold the provisions of the code as separate and apart from the parties' commitment.

One hundred and fifty-two candidates were nominated for the February 25 general election.
