People’s National Party (PNP) president, Portia Simpson Miller, has commended the Jamaica Labour Party on its election win but has warned workers in the party to be very meticulous as they oversee the recount of ballots cast in Thursdays' elections.

She made the statement as she conceded defeat at the polls at the PNP’s Old Hope Road headquarters last night.

However, Simpson Miller said nothing must be left to chance in the recount of ballots over the next few days.

"We must send strong persons at every constituency recount," she said.

In the meantime, Simpson Miller told supporters gathered at the headquarters not to be angry at the results.
