The National Leadership Prayer Breakfast (NLPB) Committee, on February 22, handed over a cheque valued at $530,000 to the Eira Schader Home for the Aged, to assist in improvement work at the residential facility, located in Trench Town, Kingston.

The sum includes $50,000 from the Victoria Mutual Group, which sponsored the 36th staging of the breakfast on January 21 under the theme: 'Righteousness Exalts a Nation'.

Head of the Victoria Mutual Group, Richard Powell, in his remarks at the handover ceremony, held at the company's corporate office, in Kingston, commended the Prayer Breakfast Committee.

"Not only has the committee remained steadfast in their commitment to foster unity among our nation's leaders, but their mission has been extended to assisting charities or projects which cater to the vulnerable and those in great need in our society," he said.

Powell said the group was committed to nation building and has intensified its support of activities that impact social development and family life.

Chairman of the NLPB committee, Reverend Dr Stevenson Samuels, also hailed members of the committee for their work and encouraged continued dedication to kindness and assisting persons in need.
