Members of the Upper House, particularly those serving for the first time, were introduced to parliamentary procedures last Friday during an orientation exercise conducted by senior staff of Parliament.

The seminar, which was held at the request of Senate President Tom Tavares-Finson, included presentations on the role of the presiding officer and table officers and parliamentary courtesies, the work done by parliamentary committees and how to formulate questions and motions.

The session was attended by 16 of the 21 senators. The Office of the Clerk is in the process of planning a post-election seminar for all parliamentarians.
