Manchester architect on ganja-related charges

The police say the Manchester man, 48-year-old Deon Elvey, was held with the drugs while attempting to board a flight to St Lucia on Sunday.

Manchester architect, 48-year-old Deon Elvey, has been charged with ganja-related offences after he allegedly attempted leave the island with the drugs.

Elvey, who is from Bonito Crescent in the parish, has been charged with possession of, dealing in, taking steps to export and conspiracy to export ganja.

He’s scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Monday, August 29.

The police say the Manchester man was held with the drugs while attempting to board a flight to St Lucia on Sunday.

According to the police, Elvey was stopped and interviewed by the police in the pre-board screening area.

The police say he was later searched and two irregular objects wrapped in masking tape found in his groin area.

They say the parcels were opened and the illicit drug seen.

Elvey was arrested and subsequently charged.
