Health Ministry meets with stakeholders to develop medical protocol for schoolboy football
The Ministry of Health says it will be meeting with stakeholders to develop guidelines for medical coverage at sporting events.
The ministry’s announcement follows the death of Dominic James, the captain of St George’s Manning Cup football team who died after he collapsed during a match yesterday.
When James collapsed four minutes into the match, he was attended to by medical personnel who were on location.
However, he had to be rushed to the hospital by his father David James because there was no ambulance or stretcher at the venue.
Since then the National Parent-Teacher Association of Jamaica has called for a number of medical protocols to be put in place before the resumption of Manning Cup matches.
