RJR Group announces management changes - Leadership of post-amalgamation team revealed
The RJR Communications Group has advised of changes to its manage-ment team as it effects operational amalgamation of its new subsidiary, The Gleaner Company (Media) Limited (GCML).
The company said on Tuesday that following board approval for this aspect of the reorganisation, a new management team has been announced. The new team members at group level are:
1. Gary Allen, chief executive officer
2. Christopher Barnes, chief operating officer/managing director, GCML
3. Andrea Wilson-Messam, chief financial officer
4. Shena Stubbs-Gibson, company secretary/legal officer
5. Dr Dennis Howard, general manager - radio services
6. Claire Grant, general manager, television services
7. Roland Booth, general manager - online and multi-media services
8. Marcha Christie, group financial controller
9. Robin Williams, group inform-ation technology manager
10. Tanya Smith, group HR manager
In highlighting post-amalga-mation initiatives, RJR said that in the past few months, the focus of its North American publications has been adjusted, reporting more on activities of Jamaicans in their diaspora communities.
Radio programming on one of the group's radio stations, Power 106FM, is also being repurposed for these publications, as well as being a part of cross-promotion of diaspora activities between radio and print.
The group said collaboration across print and television, as happened with the general election and Olympics, shows the potential of things involving The Gleaner and TVJ, which were recently jointly awarded the Media of the Year title by the Advertising Agencies Association of Jamaica.
The group's new technology platform, 1spotmedia, was also highlighted by RJR for substantial, multiple-platform diaspora engagement with Jamaican audiences globally. 1spotmedia has surpassed the 100,000 registered-users mark in more than 40 countries.
The group has also started to build out access to all commercial services from its several offices, with the integration of bookings and other services being facilitated from offices at Lyndhurst Road and North Street in Kingston; Orange Street and King Street in Montego Bay; Ocho Rios, St Ann; and Mandeville, Manchester.
A number of national public-service initiatives are also in the pipeline for the expanded group, with formal announcements scheduled to be made shortly.
On July 20, the group published its first audited financial statements for a financial year, while on August 12, its first fully amalgamated accounts for the quarter ending June 2016 were released.
The company, which has scheduled its annual general meeting for October 12, 2016, at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel at 10 a.m., declared an interim dividend of $0.02 per ordinary share, which was paid on September 14, 2016.
