Top boy: Justyn Clarke, New Horizon Preparatory

Top girl: Robyn Williams, New Horizon Preparatory

Winning word: N-U-M-I-S-M-A-T-I-C-S

Coach: Adrian McDonald

Winner: "I feel really good."

Coach about preparing for parish finals: "I'm just coming back. I understand that I don't have the same rapport I had with the students with the spelling bee book, so to some extent, I did more than I've ever done in the past."

Ten-year-old Robyn is in grade six. She is also part of her Brownies. She admitted that she knew the book, and that she started on words in the dictionary just this September. She studied with her coach over the summer twice per week.

Coach McDonald has been away for some time, but is happy that he has a champion. He recalled a conversation the late Rev Glen Archer had with him in 2012. Archer told him his preparation coming to the parish finals should be at the national level and he has kept that with him, he said.
