One of the major players in the illicit lottery scam, who was wanted for extradition to the United States, has been taken into custody following a joint operation by the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (CTOC) and Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) on Saturday.

A Panamanian woman who attempted to help him escape a police dragnet was also taken into custody for immigration and other violations.

He is 27-year-old of Lavarick Willocks of Tortuga Drive, Greenwood in Trelawny, who has been wanted for extradition to the US since March.

The woman has been identified as 23-year-old Aylin Panay.

Earlier this year, a major operation was conducted across Western Jamaica, the Corporate Area and St Mary to capture Willocks and his associates. Nineteen persons were taken into custody, including seven for whom extradition warrants were executed. He, however, managed to elude the police and had been on the run since.
