Facebook users bash suspect in Crystal Towers murder - Ex-boyfriend turns self in
Social media users have launched an attack on the man suspected of killing his ex-girlfriend at Crystal Towers in St Andrew on Saturday, ripping him for his 'wickedness' as he announced on Facebook that he was "sorry" and would be turning himself in.
Construction worker Philip Brown handed himself over to police shortly after posting to Facebook early Sunday morning. He was wanted in connection with the murder of 33-year-old Kerryann Wilson.
"I'm turning in myself," Brown posted on his timeline.
Approximately one hour later, his status was updated to "this is it!"
Responding to Brown's status, one woman on Facebook said, "You're so wicked ... What could she have done to deserve a death like that(?)."
Another Facebook user wrote: "He's a psycho. He is on Fb updating status, this is beyond crazy."
The comments grew more caustic, with more and more persons expressing levels of violence they felt should be meted out to Brown.
LIKELY TO BE CHARGED
Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay, in charge of the Corporate Communications Unit, told The Gleaner that Brown, who, most likely, will be charged for the murder, turned himself in with his attorney and a relative.
"He is not formally charged yet because detectives would like to do more interviews and processing. It is very likely that he will be charged," Lindsay said.
Wilson's body was found on Saturday, wrapped in a tarpaulin on a bridge over a gully, not far from her Crystal Towers home.
Wilson, the mother of two, and Brown were in a relationship that recently ended, her relatives have said.
Residents reportedly heard loud arguing inside Wilson's apartment prior to her body being found.
The police were alerted by residents who, reportedly, saw a man toss a tarpaulin towards a gully. Crystal Towers Apartments is located across from the police commissioner's office.
