FLOW offers customers freebies after foul-up

Telecommunications company FLOW is offering customers whose private numbers were exposed in the 2017 residential telephone directory, a new private number, free of charge for a year.

FLOW said that as part of its efforts to minimise negative impact on affected customers, it is also waiving the private listing charges for 2016-2017.

"Affected customers will not be billed for private listing for the period November 1, 2016 to October 31, 2017, which is the period for the new directory in question. Private listing charges that were already billed will be fully rebated," communications manager at FLOW, Kayon Wallace, said.

FLOW customers are charged $200 per month to keep their numbers and addresses private.

On Tuesday, The Gleaner revealed that some customers, including high-profile public officials, had their private telephone numbers and other personal details printed in the directory and made available online through the Yellow Pages portal.

"We have given a commitment to our customers to treat this incident with the utmost sensitivity," Wallace said.
